Here are some technical skills every accountant/ finance professional needs to acquire in other to gain a competitive edge in the industry:

 

1.    Accounting software: Sage, QuickBooks, Peachtree, FreshBooks, Xero etc.

2.    Advance excel: VLOOKUP, index & match, Pivot tables, PMT, Text-to-columns etc.

3.  Business Intelligence software: Enterprise resource planning software (SAP & Oracle), ZOHO Analytics, Microsoft BI, Tableau etc.

4.    Data query/ data management: SQL, Microsoft Access etc.
