LinkedIn is a much more formal platform than Twitter or Instagram. It’s designed for creating a compelling profile to highlight your professional experience and connecting with people in your field. Ultimately, the goal is to craft a strong network that helps you move forward in your career. It’s therefore important to learn your way around the app to reap the benefits.

    Being Passive

Don’t be afraid to give updates on promotions and professional pursuits or links to events to keep things fresh and give potential employers a reason to reach out to you. Joining groups, sharing articles, and growing your network are other important ways to stay active on LinkedIn.

    Use the Wrong Photo

A great photo is an important way to get your LinkedIn profile noticed. So, skip the one that includes your husband, your kids, your friends, or the family dog. Also, make sure the photo is clear, professional, and relatively recent.

    Write poorly

Even though it's a social media site, grammatical errors on LinkedIn can immediately cast you in a bad light. Proofread every word you write even quick status updates should be edited and perfect.

    Confuse It with Facebook

LinkedIn connections, messages, and posts should be reserved for building your professional network, joining groups of people who share your interests, expanding your career skills and knowledge, and learning about new work opportunities. Don't use it for a casual social interaction or anything else that might turn a potential employer off.
