As finance professionals and accountants they are principles guiding our conduct and behaviour. Here are 5 fundamental principles of ethics we are expected to uphold:

    1. Principle of Confidentiality: Information obtained as a result business relationship should be kept confidential. Such information should not be shared with 3rd parties except with proper authorization.

    2. Principle of Integrity: As professionals we are expected to remain fair and honest in carrying out our duties.

    3. Principle of Objectivity: As finance professionals we are to avoid any form of undue influence and bias in our business relationship.

    4. Professional competence and due care: Finance professionals are expected to carry out their responsibilities with utmost expertise and knowledge such that clients receives utmost satisfaction and professional service.

    5. Professional behaviour: We are expected to obey all statutory regulations and laws. We are to exclude ourselves from activities and actions that bring discredit to the profession.

I believe these principles should not only guide us in our business relationship but also in every other aspect of our life.
