LinkedIn InMail is a messaging platform that provides users the opportunity to send a short note to the inbox of other LinkedIn users (recruiters). Recruiters receive countless message requests every day from hungry applicants. Some are accepted while others are ignored. How do you ensure you stand out?

Some things to consider before you send a message to a recruiter on LinkedIn:

    -       Look to establish a relationship if necessary. Recruiters can help develop your career or point you in the right direction.

    -       Craft a simple and relevant message that will help you stand out from the other connection requests they receive.

    -       Thank them for the time and effort they put into finding your job opportunities.

    -       Don’t overthink the message you are sending. Proofread and send.

Here are some examples of LinkedIn mail pitches

    Example 1

Hello, Mr. Timothy, My name is Jane Peters and I’m certified finance professional. If you have a second, I would love the chance to discuss how my skills in data analysis and experiences might match what you may be currently looking for. Thank you and I hope you have a great day.

    Example 2

Hello Ms. Effiong, it’s my pleasure to connect with you. Although we have never met or had the chance to work together, I’ve heard great things about Transmission Tech company. I’m currently looking to join a new organization where I can put my skills in tax consultancy to use so if there are any job openings around finance management, and tax consultancy, I would love the opportunity to talk about why I might be a good fit. Thank you and have a great day.
