Everyday is for the employees, one day is for the bosses, high execs and yes, the HRs! (Isn’t that how it is said?) The bottom line is that overworking is that long hours and an ever-increasing workload can make even the most hardworking staff become unproductive.

These tips will help you put things in perspective:

    Prioritize the work by scheduling

Encourage your staff to sit down at the beginning of each day and review all of the tasks they need to complete. You can do these with them to encourage this habit. Schedule tasks according to level of importance and let them know not to overcrowd the day with too many tasks.

    Encourage a Healthy Work-Life Balance

The best strategy for avoiding overwork is to create clear boundaries around work time. Lunch breaks, weekends, and after work hours should be treated as free time for employees to use as they wish. Stop shelving tasks upon tasks on them when they should be eating lunch or holidaying.

    Be firm but approachable

If your employees think they are overworked, overwhelmed, and are scared to tell you, they are not going to be nearly as productive as you expect them to be. Establish and maintain an open door policy with your staff and watch how smoothly the office will function.

     Set Clear Expectations

Before and after employing your staff, be clear about the outcomes you expect from them. This doesn’t mean you should micromanage them— just be sure you are all clear on what efficiency looks like at the end.
