The Position

Clean Tech Hub is seeking a Junior Associate – Energy Finance who will assist in developing and implementing an interdisciplinary practice focused on Energy and Climate finance. The role will involve exploring the linkages between energy and climate markets as well as the financial markets and will then require us to look at energy and climate related products/markets from a financial perspective.

 

Responsibilities

The Energy and Climate Finance Associate will be part of the Energy Access team and will support the organization, in carrying out the following duties and task:

·         Support the COO and the manager energy access in building out the energy and climate finance practice.

·         Develop information memorandum, proposals, business plans and related materials about projects for funders, partners and other stakeholders.

·         Provide project assistance related to financial modeling for energy access and climate smart reports and projects for investors, partners and other stakeholders.

·         Conduct financial analysis on the organization’s renewable energy and climate change projects.

·         Support the technical team in commercial decisions to ensure all proposed projects developed are bankable.

·         Assist with gathering and analyzing data that can be used in the analysis on renewable energy and climate finance projects.

·         Contribute to drafting and finalizing publications and reports related to the finance landscape of renewable energy.

·         Assist with comprehensive research and analysis of the roles of different instruments and institutions in financing renewable energy, including; international and domestic public finance institutions, institutional investors, debt and private finance institutions, private equity and capital markets, blended finance, climate finance, sustainable finance and green bonds.

·         Contribute to conducting comprehensive market research analysis relating to energy access and climate change in Africa.

·         Keep abreast of current trends in energy access and rural electrification within Nigeria, Africa and the world at large.

·         Support the team on process flow with content creation to ease the operations of the organization.

·         Organize workshops, meeting and events with relevant sectoral and industry stakeholders on topics related to renewable energy and climate smart finance and policies.

 

Essential Knowledge and Requirements

·         Must be committed and passionate about CTH’s goal, objectives and mission.

·         1- 2 years working experience.

·         A strategic mind that is focused on execution and timely delivery on projects.

·         Bachelor’s degree in any field (a degree in Economics, Finance, Public policy is an added advantage).

·         Good research, data collection, and analytical skills.

·         Ability to write and communicate properly, professionally and with a good command in English language.

·         Outstanding communication, interpersonal, writing and presentation skills.

·         Sound knowledge of renewable energy investment and policy frameworks.

·         Familiarity with ongoing debates and initiatives in the field of energy access and rural electrification.

·         Ability to write clearly and consistently and present to a wide variety of local and international audiences.

·         High level of determination and tenacity.

·         Experience in the usage of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Skype, Zoom, etc.).
